About the project

As its name suggests, Oddity is at least an unusual bar, where some objects are used for a purpose other than their common one, a world of seemingly strange but carefully chosen associations to destroy a certain pattern. The story begins with recreating a workshop, raw and worn, which becomes a metaphor for routine, for the work we all repeat daily.

The textures and materials used are authentic, from the walls where you discover the layers of lime applied over time, to the wood, sheet metal, or lighting fixtures that have an entire history before being recovered. In this workshop, the workbench becomes the bar that dominates the entire space, tools are replaced by an accumulation of bottles and glasses, and tool shelves become seating areas.

By its nature, the space encourages you to be natural, but at the same time to break away from certain preconceptions and modesty, to immerse yourself in the imagination and the unknown of the universe. The monotony specific to a workshop is thus broken by a few elements that seem to have landed from an extraterrestrial world, such as the operating room lamp with its two immense arms, the convex mirror in which the entire space is reflected, or the curved glass through which you perceive reality distorted.

The project received the award for best interior design at the Moldova Regional Architecture Awards 2019.
