The competition launched the challenge of finding a creative solution through which an old and decommissioned bridge of the city of Linz could be recycled and returned to the residents. It was precisely this nostalgia and desire of the people not to lose one of the symbols of the industrial city that was the basis of our concept, that of creating the context through which they feel they have regained their bridge.
Thus, we reinterpreted its significance, preserving its silhouette and role of connecting two banks, but transforming it into an animated pontoon, which this time is no longer intended for cars, but floats at water level, inviting pedestrians to relax or have fun.
Moreover, the bridge is no longer closed, as the old structure is positioned medially along the pontoon, creating two open areas: on one side a platform for water sports such as polo, canoe, kayak, wind surfing, wake boarding, and on the other, a promenade area with seating and green space. Both are nevertheless perceived as a whole, as it is very easy to pass from one side to the other.
